Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a chronic, often progressive disease resulting from a weak lower esophageal sphincter (LES). The LINX Reflux Management System augments the weak LES, restoring the body's natural barrier to reflux.

The LINX Reflux Management System  is a small flexible band of interlinked titanium beads with magnetic cores. The magnetic attraction between the beads is intended to help the LES resist opening to gastric pressures, preventing reflux from the stomach into the esophagus. The LINX Reflux Management System is designed so that swallowing forces temporarily break the magnetic bond, allowing food and liquid to pass normally into the stomach. Magnetic attraction of the device is designed to close the LES immediately after swallowing, restoring the body's natural barrier to reflux.

- A NEW version of the LINX Reflux Management System is MR Conditional in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system up to 1.5 Tesla is now available. Scanning under different conditions may result in serious injury to the patient and/or interfere with the magnetic strength of and function of the device.

- In the event an MRI above 1.5 Tesla is required and alternative diagnostic procedures cannot be used, the LINX Reflux Management System can be removed.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Some patients may have been treated with an earlier version of the LINX Reflux Management System that is MR Conditional only up to 0.7-Tesla. Patients implanted with this version of the LINX Reflux Management System cannot undergo procedures in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) System above 0.7-Tesla.

It's important to know which LINX Reflux Management System the patient has prior to MRI. Patients implanted with the 0.7-Tesla device cannot undergo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system above 0.7-Tesla.

  • Patients implanted with the LINX Reflux Management System PRIOR to May 22, 2015 have been implanted with the 0.7-T version of the device.
  • For patients implanted with the LINX Reflux Management System AFTER May 22, 2015, please check the implant card:
Blue card for the 1.5-Tesla version of the device.
White card for the 0.7-Tesla version of the device.
